Food Card Scam
It has come to our attention that at least (one) 1 of our customers has received a TEXT stating that Combined Consumers SUD is giving out free food cards to our customers and to call this number. (903- 224-2071) to redeem. This is how the scammer hijacks your phone number. Please remember it is NEVER a good idea to call or text a phone number that you do not recognize. We highly recommend that you do not call or text this number. Anyone is able to put any name to a phone number and therefore create a scam.
You should never give your banking or credit card information to anyone asking if you have doubts. If it is Free then they don’t need your financial information.
Please be aware that Combined Consumers has not and will not ever be involved with any food card services.
We are a local government utility that is entirely non-profit. We have nothing to do with any food assistance programs or any of the like.
We apologize for any fear this may ensue, but we want to be proactive and let our customers know of a possible scam that may be on the horizon.
