Billing Issues Regarding the US Postal Service
This is regarding customers’ bills not being received due to the US Postal Service. As we all have seen over the last few years the current service that is being given by the United States Postal Service is sadly lacking. Unfortunately, this is a nationwide problem.
We have had serious disputes with the local post office and it’s not just a local problem. We spend an average of $1650.00 each month on mailing your water bills. Each bill now cost us .61 cents each in postage.
We have 2 bill cycles. The 10th and the 25th. Each bill cycle we receive numerous bills back with various reasons as to why they are undeliverable. We call our customers to verify their mailing address is current and correct.
We have received as many as over 150 returned to us in one day going to certain areas. This has happened TWICE!
In April 2025, our Cycle 1 bills were mailed out April 8th, all disappeared in the DFW bulk mail center. The local postmaster issued 2 searches as these bills were due on April 25th. On April 30th, our customers finally started receiving their bills and they were postmarked April 30th, 2025. 5 days AFTER the due date. Of course, most customers called and came in to pay as they knew when their bills were always due.
It is you, the customer who is responsible for paying your bill on time. We can only do our due diligence and trust that you receive your bill. You can avoid this by signing up for E-billing. You can receive your bill via Email or Text message.
You will have a late fee applied to your bill should you not pay by your due date whether you receive your bill or not. You are told when your due date is when you applied for service. Cycle 1 is mailed out by the 10th and is due on the 25th. Late fees are applied on the 26th after the morning mail is collected, and funds are applied. If not paid by the 6th then Service may be shut off.
Cycle 2 is mailed out by the 25th and is due on the 10th of the following month. Late fees are applied on the 11th after the morning mail is collected, and funds are applied. If not paid by the 21st then Service may be shut off.
It’s a sad day that we have to address this but after speaking with not only other water utilities, we’ve come to learn that it’s a larger problem than us. Please understand that we want you to receive your bill.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
